ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - On Wednesday, the new United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia discussed illegal guns and criminals.
Roanoke native John Fishwick was sworn in last month after being nominated for the post by President Barack Obama.

Fishwick has more than 30 years of trial experience in state and federal court.
He said his priorities include prosecuting human traffickers and getting violent offenders off the streets.
"Our focus is on violent criminals who are doing harm on the community," he said. "Individuals with illegal weapons. That's where our focus is and will remain".
Fishwick said he plans to work closely with law enforcement agencies and state prosecutors to make sure criminals are prosecuted.
