Lexington community plans memorial for deadly fire victim
LEXINGTON (WSLS 10) - Community members in Lexington come together to remember a man killed in a fire.
Kevin Beals died in a fire on Marble Lane on November 6th.
Ty Dickerson, Lexington Fire Chief, said in his 38 years of firefighting, he had never come across a situation where they could not find people related to a victim.
The fire department will hold a memorial service for Beals next week. They received help from the city, Lexington Presbyterian Church, Harrison Funeral Home, Hamric Memorials and the Virginia Military Institute Pipe Band.
"We had overwhelming support. A lot of really good comments that this was the right thing to do and give Mr. Beals a final resting place in a proper way," said Dickerson.
The memorial service is planned for next Thursday January 21st at 2 p.m. at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.
