ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Transportation Security Administration officers at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport stopped a Salem man from bringing a loaded .38 caliber handgun onto a flight Monday.
The unidentified man was stopped at the checkpoint when a TSA officer detected the handgun, which was loaded with six bullets, as it was on the conveyor belt inside his carry-on bag.

The man told the officer he forgot he had the gun with him.
Police confiscated the weapon and cited the man on a state weapons charge.
He could face penalties from TSA of up to $11,000.
