Fire crews investigating deadly fire in Botetourt County

BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Botetourt County Department of Fire & EMS is investigating a house fire that killed one woman in Blue Ridge.

It happened on Monday, January 18, shortly before 3:00 A.M in a home in the 100 block of Zimmerman Road.


When crews arrived, the house was heavily involved with smoke and flames. Firefighters found a woman in an upstairs room who was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's office for identification.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Departments that responded to the deadly fire include Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue, Troutville Fire, Botetourt Fire & EMS, Fincastle Fire, Montvale and Stewartsville Fire Departments.
