Lynchburg police investigating series of breaking and entering incidents

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating several breaking and entering incidents in and around the Dearington neighborhood. Investigators believe many of the incidents are related.

According to police, there have been nine home burglaries since January 3. They happened on Pulaski Street, York Street, Chambers Street, Smyth Street, 2nd Street and Payne Street. Most of the incidents happened during the daytime when the homes were unoccupied.

Items taken from the homes include electronics, cosmetics, clothing, firearms and other household items.

Detectives are following up on several leads. The police department is looking for information from the public to help identify anyone involved in the burglaries, as well as find stolen property.
