PITTYSLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) -- The Pittsylvania County Fire Marshal is investigating a deadly house fire in Gretna that killed one woman.
It happened Thursday night at 604 Henry Street. Investigators say the call came in around 11 p.m. Volunteer firefighters arrived to scene about five minutes later and found one end of the house was engulfed in flames.

It appears the victim,73-year-old Katie Yeatts, tried to escape before she died.
According to Assistant Chief Jesse Yeatts, about 30 firefighters from the Hurt, Climax and Chatham volunteer fire departments helped the Gretna Volunteer Fire Department battle the flames.
Crews were at the scene until about 3:00 Friday morning.
Neither arson nor foul play are not suspected as a cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
