SALEM (WSLS)-- The Virginia Department of Transportation is warning drivers to watch out for slick roads as they head out this morning. Overnight snow showers have covered some roads, especially in higher elevations and the New River Valley.

VDOT reports that interstates and most primary roads are mostly clear, with isolated slick spots.

Portions of  Route 221 in Roanoke County and many secondary roads in Floyd and Montgomery counties are still snow covered. There have also been reports of scattered snow patches on Interstates 81 and 77.

Drivers should use extra caution throughout the morning, as roads that look to be wet could be icy after freezing overnight temperatures. Be especially careful on bridges, overpasses and elevated surfaces.
