Phone scam targeting Bedford area

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - A new scam is circulating around the Bedford Area. Sheriff Mike Brown said there have been reports in both Bedford County and the Town of Bedford. He said the scammers are claiming to be from the U.S. Treasury or the I.R.S., and notifying residents of an enforcement infraction. Sheriff Brown said the scammers are trying to steal credit card information and social security information. The Sheriff's Office said to warn elderly friends and neighbors, since the scammers tend to target them.
