Roanoke Catholic School recognized All American wrestler

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke Catholic School recognized a student for his performance at the National Preps Wrestling Tournament.

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the school rang the ceremonial St. Andrews Church Steeple Bell to celebrate.

Senior Brian Sakalas won all three matches on Friday and took third place overall.

In addition, he was named "All-American" and is believed to be the only Roanoke Catholic Student to get that honor.

"The bell ringing is a ceremony we have at school when something big gets accomplished. I was on the football team this year after every win we ring the bell for accomplishment, success, victory," said Sakalas.

32 private school wrestlers nationwide qualify to participate in National Preps in each weight class.
