Eberly described Nancy Reagan as gracious, devoted, and strong.

"My first thought was she'll be reunited with the love of her life," Eberly said.

Eberly worked for the former First Lady during the first term of the Reagan Administration.

"She was serious about her role, and she was very direct with me about what she wanted," Eberly said.

One of her duties included sorting through Mrs. Reagan's mail, receiving more than a hundred letters a day.

"One person wrote to her asking if she played a grocery store bingo game and if she had a certain number would she please share it with her," Eberly laughed.

But her favorite moment, was working side by side with Mrs. Reagan on a pictorial history of her years in the White House.

"I have a special memory of taking this book, which was probably 2 1/2 x 4 ft in dimension, to her personal office, spreading it out on the floor. She got down on the floor and kicked off her shoes and was reading the coverage," Eberly said.

Right after the shooting of her husband in 1981; displaying newspaper clips and special messages.

"I think she forgot anyone else was in the room. She became completely engrossed in that," Eberly said.

"I'm just feeling grateful to have worked in a white house with Ronald Reagan as president. Those were wonderful years. And to have had the privilege to serve him through serving his wife, it's just a blessing," Eberly said.

The last time Eberly saw Nancy Reagan was at a staff reunion 10 years after the Reagans left the White House. She said Reagan thanked her for her work.
