FIELDALE (WSLS10) - "It killed me. I didn't even want to go to work."

A friend of Damien Anthony Ferrell says that's how he felt when he was awoken by a phone call yesterday morning telling him that Damien, who he had known since middle school, had been shot dead.

The friend came to Damien's home this morning and placed a flower and a flag in the yard in remembrance. The friend said he was still too emotional and didn't want to show his face on camera.

"He was nice, he was outgoing, he was funny," the friend said.

The man who lives across the street from 167 Chadmore Dr. in Fieldale, where the murder happened, and the man who lives on the street behind the home shared their reactions today as well. Both said they didn't know Ferrell or see him much, but they often saw lots of cars coming and going from the home.

"They don't bother me. I figure, what they do up there is their business," said neighbor Bobby Stone.

Even so, he says the murder does bother him.

"Most of the time, I keep my door open. But now, I'm going to keep it locked tonight," Stone pointed out.

The sheriff's office says the murder was the result of an argument between Ferrell and the four suspects, Malik Davon Galloway, Kerry Marcel Scales, Jr., Sean Demetreus Goddard, Jr., and Adrian Lewis Purcell.

Sheriff Lane Perry says the argument may have been over drugs.

"It does appear that drugs were involved in this situation," said Sheriff Perry.

Galloway, Scales, Jr., and Goddard, Jr. All turned themselves in yesterday evening. Sheriff Perry says once family members were notified of the warrants, family members of each of the three suspects went and picked up the suspects and brought them to the sheriff's offiuce to turn themselves in and so far the suspects have been very cooperative.

The sheriff's office is continuing to search for Purcell, who is believed to live in Reidsville, North Carolina. If you have any information, call the Henry County Sheriff's Office or 911.
