MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Martinsville Police Department hopes to strengthen its relationship with the community.
Today, the department held "Coffee With A Cop."
More than a dozen officers and detectives took part.
Police Chief Sean Dunn says allowing citizens to get to know the officers on a more personal level encourages citizens to be more forthcoming with information, which ultimately helps the department keep the community safer.
"It's very beneficial for us to have that relationship so that we're able to address concerns hopefully before they become bigger problems," Chief Dunn emphasized.
This was the department's second "Coffee With A Cop" event. There's no word yet on if or when another one will be held.
