Alzheimer's educational workshop held in Ringgold
RINGGOLD (WSLS10) - The Alzheimer's Association is trying to help people in Southside provide better care for people with dementia.
Thursday, the association held a workshop in Ringgold.
Doctor Brian Unwin is a Geriatric specialist at Carillion Clinic in Roanoke and spoke to those who attended about signs of dementia, what to do if you notice the signs, and how to care for someone with dementia.
He says the most important thing for caregivers can do is get informed.
"The real work and the real success of taking care of people with dementia is being an informed, skilled caregiver to help their loved one navigate through all of the trials and tribulations," Dr. Unwin emphasized.
