ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Virginia ranks in the top five for lowest average gas prices. According to AAA, the Commonwealth has the fourth lowest average in the country.

New Jersey ranks in at number three, Arizona at number two and South Carolina takes the top spot.

The price of gasoline, however, is rising. The national average climbed four cents since last week both nationwide and Virginia.

AAA predicted gas prices would start to rise as is typical for this time of year while refineries undergo scheduled maintenance.
