Construction set to begin next month for Lynchburg Airport's new air traffic control tower
LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) Construction will soon begin on the Lynchburg Regional Airport's new air traffic control tower.
The Airport Director says the current tower, which was built in the 1960's, is old, contains asbestos, and costs too much to heat and maintain. Construction of the new $3.3 million tower is expected to start next month and will be completed by the end of the year.
The existing tower will continue to operate until the new tower is completed.
