BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS10) - The Bedford County Sheriff's Office mourns the loss of one of its own.
According to Updike Funeral Home, Lieutenant Darryl Saunders passed away Tuesday after a battle with cancer.

He served the Bedford Community for more than 30 years as a paramedic and deputy sheriff.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday at Thaxton Baptist Church.
The church will host his funeral Saturday with a burial to follow.
