SALEM (WSLS 10) - Queen Little Miss Missy, a social media sensation, has collected toiletries for about 200 care packages to give people staying in the Rescue Mission shelters.

Her owner, Debbie Weddle, said "We've collected toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, diapers, baby wipes, wash cloths, combs, socks, and tissues. People have sent items all the way from Canada!"

Queen Little Miss Missy has more than 15,000 likes on her Facebook fan page. "People send her clothes, accessories and treats all the time," continued Weddle. "Everyone loves her and she loves people."

Weddle started Missy's Facebook page to collect donations for animal rescue shelters nationally and locally.

"I heard a statistic of how many animals have to be put down every year and it just broke my heart. That's what made me decide to use Missy as a platform to help others. Our first collection was for Texas Star Rescue and we raised $2,000 to have all the dogs spayed and neutered," explained Weddle.

Since then, the pair has collected items for other local charities; this past Christmas, they collected food and blankets for Meals on Wheels.

Queen Little Miss Missy and Weddle will visit the Rescue Mission on Thursday, March 17, to assemble the care packages for shelter guests, and to allow children staying in the shelter to visit with Missy. "I'm disabled and this is my way of giving back," says Weddle. "If Missy and I can change one person's life, then that makes everything worthwhile. It doesn't cost anything to be kind and give back."
