Galax police still investigating double homicide
The Galax Police Department is actively investigating March 10's double homicide
On March 10, at 11:58 a.m., a Galax officer was dispatched after receiving information that a dead person had been seen in a home. When the officer arrived, both Alyssa Ann Kenny and her daughter Anastasia Leighann Alley were found inside the home. Their remains were then taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner for autopsy and examination.
Police have identified a person of interest, but no arrests have been made yet.
Galax police have dedicated all necessary resources to the investigation in an effort to bring closure to the family, according to a press release.
Chief Rick Clark also explained that the family, even in its grief, has expressed its desire that whomever is responsible gets the help he or she needs.
The investigation is being conducted with assistance from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Grayson County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The police department is still asking for anyone who has information about this case or may have seen any suspicious activity around Kenny's home or the area around E. Stuart Drive/North Main Street just prior to midnight on March 9 or early March 10, 2016 to contact the Galax Police Department at 276-236-8101, e-mail email@example.com or send a message to the police department on its Facebook page.
