RADFORD (WSLS 10) - The Radford High School campus will soon get a makeover.

The school board plans to dedicate about $2 million to have the roofs of four buildings replaced. They were identified as the most urgent need after a months-long facilities assessment.

The school system is also asking the city of Radford to renovate the old armory. If city council approves funding for that project, the schools will likely use it for sporting events and extra classroom space.

"It's been a while since they've been completely replaced. We've patched them when there's been leaks. Two or three years ago when the derecho came through, we had some issues with the roof," said superintendent Rob Graham.

The roof replacements are scheduled to be completed by May 2017.
