Students at Virginia Tech Carilion research institute opened their envelopes at noon Friday.

100% of students were matched and very excited with their programs. Dean of VTC School of Medicine, Cynda Johnson, says this match determines the start and shape of their careers.

"It's very important, and they work very hard for this day to be able to go through their career and see what it is in the four years of medical school to see whats the best match for them," Johnson said.

Each student matched was called to the stage to pin a marker on a giant map of the U.S. where he or she will go for residency.

The map will be hung in the library.
