ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  A queen hoping to bring much needed smiles visits families in need in Roanoke.

If you don't know her already, Queen Little Miss Missy is a Roanoke dog who's become an internet sensation.

Her popularity on social media has helped raise donations for local and national animal rescues and meals on wheels.

On St. Patricks Day, she and her owner made care packages for children at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

It's a hobby her owner Debbie Weddle says has helped with her own healing process.

"I'm disabled from a car accident myself, so this is my way of giving back and I just use my facebook page and her of course," Weddle said.

She says she was shocked by pictures of the homeless she saw this past winter sleeping outside, covered in trash bags.

She wanted to do anything she could to prevent anyone from that alternative.

In St. Patricks day style, the Queen who was wearing a shamrock tu-tu met with children and families there who were more than happy to get her kisses.
