PULASKI (WSLS 10) - Plans are underway to build the town of Pulaski's first public safety building.

The town is currently asking for proposals from architectural and engineering firms.

Right now, the fire, police and emergency services departments are all located in separate buildings. The new public safety building would allow all three organizations to come together under one roof.

Town leaders say all these agencies have outgrown their current spaces. Some of the buildings were built in the early 1900s, so they do not have a number of standard modern features.

A public safety building would also get first responders away from the railroad tracks and out of the town's flood plain, where they currently are.

The goal is to have the public safety building operational by 2018.

An exact cost has not yet been determined.
