SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE (WSLS 10) - The Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival will move from LakeWatch Plantation to Crazy Horse Marina this year.
This is the 28th year for the festival, as well as the 50th anniversary of Smith Mountain Lake. Organizers said this year's festival will feature 29 wineries and more than 80 vendors.
Smith Mountain Lake tourism officials and economic development leaders said the change in location will allow for parking and boat parking.
Staff at Crazy Horse Marina said they are making improvements at the marina, which fell into disrepair in recent years. Organizers said the property is now coming back to life.
The wine festival will take place Sept. 24-25, 2016. Organizers are hoping to attract 10,000-12,000 people.
