ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -- Roanoke police made one arrest and continue to investigate a shooting that happened late Tuesday night.

Jared Ryan Ford, 23, of Roanoke, was charged with malicious wounding and using a firearm to commit a felony and taken to Roanoke City Jail.

On March 29 at 11:21 p.m., police were dispatched to Lewis Gale Hospital after a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen area arrived at the emergency room.

Twenty-three-year-old Dustin Ray Parker, of Roanoke, was driven to the hospital by an acquaintance, according to police.

They said that Parker was shot at a home in the 2600 block of Fairway Drive SW.

Parker was eventually taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Officers and detectives interviewed witnesses and collected potential physical evidence from the Fairway Drive scene and after further investigation, detectives obtained warrants on Ford for the shooting.

At this time, police say it appears Parker and Ford know each other.

Officers and detectives are continuing to investigate.
