Pittsylvania Co. supervisors adopt budget

CHATHAM (WSLS 10) - Pittsylvania County supervisors have adopted a budget for the upcoming fiscal year, but the vote was far from unanimous.

Supervisors Jerry Hagerman, Ronald Scearce, and Tim Barber all said they felt the budget was setting the county up to be in dire financial straits come this time next year.

During the comment period before the vote was taken, supervisors traded verbal punches regarding the county's overcrowded jail and the money the county has lost from eliminating the landfill fee.

The official vote on the budget was 4-3.
