SALEM (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - The Salem Red Sox are eager to return to the field in 2016. They boast new talent, top three prospects in all of baseball and they also have a new manager.

The Red Sox welcome in lots of new faces this season. On the diamond they have top prospects in second baseman Yoan Moncada, Rafael Devers at third and outfielder Andrew Benintendi.

"I feel like this lineup up and down is going to be really talented. I feel like we can do some special things this year. I think we're going to push each other and get better every day and hopefully win some games," said Benintendi.

"We're going to be here to win and it's a fine line you have to walk. You're trying to develop players you want as many guys to get experience in each situation they possibly can and grow but then again you don't want to sacrifice the team success," explained manager Joe Oliver.

On the mound Salem will be solid with ace pitching in Travis Lakins and Australian Daniel McGrath, who will get the opening day start.

"Starting pitching and bullpen we have a lot of guys that are hot coming out of the bullpen and some guys with really good off speed stuff so we're going to be a really good pitching staff along with the hitters," said McGrath.

Although they're young and talented on paper, Oliver knows they'll need to turn that into reality.

"I expect a lot out of these guys out of the clubhouse. It's part of my speech to these guys is that we're going to go have fun as long as we do the work." Oliver added.

The Salem Red Sox open the season at home at Lewis Gale field at 7:05 on Thursday.
