BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Virginia Tech's Rescue Squad is being recognized as one of the best in the nation.
Members of the rescue squad performed at the 23rd National Collegiate Emergency Medical Service Foundation Conference. At the conference, they competed against more than 100 other collegiate rescue squads and tested their life-saving abilities.
The Virginia Tech Rescue Squad won several awards, including three first place prizes. Rescue Squad Chief Chris Eyestone says his team feels grateful for the opportunities they have in Blacksburg.
"It feels very good," Said Eyestone. "It's very fulfilling and rewarding for each one of our 45 members to be able to say, Yes, this is home. This is the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad, and this is what we're all about.'"
The rescue squad is the oldest collegiate rescue squad in the Commonwealth. They have served the Virginia Tech community since 1969.
