CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - The New River Valley is renewing its push to boost agritourism in the area.
Since 2013, leaders from Montgomery, Pulaski and Giles counties have been researching what this region has to offer and how to make it better.
The team spent about $90,000 in grants to build a strategic plan.
Key takeaways include building more wedding venues, strengthening outdoor recreation opportunities and creating better communication between producers.
The group presented findings this week at the Virginia Agritourism Conference in South Boston.
Tourism team member Peggy White said, "It's another stream of revenue for producers. If they can have another revenue stream, then they can stay on the farm and do what they love."
The team is now looking for funding to begin implementing some of these ideas.
