Lexington Police Chief Al Thomas resigns, will serve as Police Chief of Charlottesville
LEXINGTON (WSLS 10) Lexington Police Chief Al Thomas has accepted the position of Police Chief for the City of Charlottesville, Virginia. Chief Thomas has been Lexington's Police Chief for more than six years.
The Lexington City Manager, Noah Simon says Chief Thomas has been a visible and proactive leader in our community forging solid relationships with VMI, Washington & Lee, city residents and the children in our community. Chief Thomas has been a friend and advocate for the people of Lexington, earning our respect and trust. His accomplishments are numerous and impact on our community significant.
Simon says Chief Thomas is one of the most professional chief's I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Chief Thomas' professionalism, dedication, passion and commitment to his department is exemplary. Chief Thomas makes everyone around him better – his officers are a testament to that.
On behalf of the Mayor and Lexington City Council, we are so very proud of Chief Thomas and all that he has accomplished in Lexington. We know this is a wonderful opportunity for the Chief, his wife Dorothy, and their two children and we wish him the very best.
