LEXINGTON (WSLS 10) - An annual Fourth of July tradition in Lexington will end in 2016.

After 20 years, the Hot Air Balloon Rally will no longer happen at the VMI Parade Ground.

The Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club, which organized the event, said it had to end the event because of weather and costs.

It costs $220 to ride in a hot air balloon and many flights were cancelled; however, organizers are optimistic plans for this year's Fourth of July festival will be more fun.

"It's gonna be a big change for a lot of people, but it'll be so fun," said Matthew Hayden with Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club. "There will be 7,000 people there. Almost none of them were able to ride in the balloons or see a balloon on the Fourth if they happened to be there."

The July Fourth Fireworks and Festival will offer music, food and craft vendors and activities for kids
