ROANOKE (WSLS 10) Roanoke Police are investigating an assault that happened this afternoon at a home on Oaklawn Avenue.
Police say the victim, a 65-year-old told them a man came to her door claiming he needed help. She told police that the suspect forced his way into her home and punched her in the face.

The victim told police the suspect took her purse before running away.
The victim was taken to the hospital. The suspect was described as a 35 to 40 year old black male, approximately 5'8" and weighing around 200 lbs. If you have any information that might help officers please call the RPD tip-line at 540-344-8500. Tips can be left anonymously.
