SALEM (WSLS 10) - All eyes were to the sky Saturday morning in Salem.

The 18th annual Blue Ridge Kite Festival was held at Green Hill Park. The day of outdoor celebration provided a chance for community members of all ages to enjoy arts, crafts, food and other vendors.

A percentage of the proceeds will support the Salem - Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce's Foundation Scholarship Program.

Jose Munoz lives in Roanoke County. This was his family's ninth year attending the event.

"It's just the energy," said Munoz."Seeing things fly in the sky and seeing my little daughter smile."

Yokohama provided free kites and Freedom First Credit Union provided free ice cream for the festival.
