ROANOKE (WSLS10) - After Friday's shooting threat at Northside High School and with an investigation into former Northside Football Coach Burt Torrence for admittedly taking payment for a job he didn't do -- the community came together Sunday afternoon in prayer.

Held by school board member and Pastor Tom McCracken, nearly 100 people came out to the forum on the green in front of Northside Middle School.

McCracken said after violent threats not just Friday, but throughout the year, this prayer group is meant to give community members guidance and peace of mind.

"What I saw and what I heard is there's a lot of anxious, scared, and worried people," commented McCracken. "And, you just keep hearing the same thing 'what it next, what is next?' So, for me something like this today is a breather. It's a time for us to come together and realize we're a family and we're going to get through this."

McCracken said he plans to hold another community meeting once the results of Torrence's investigation become available.
