MONETA (WSLS 10) - The strawberry festival at Scott's Strawberry Farm will go on this year.
It was unclear if the festival would happen after the farm's owner, J.D. Scott, passed away last year.
"He was in a lot of pain," said Scott's widow, Alice Scott. "He would work in the fields up until three days before he passed away."
Alice decided a few months ago to continue the festival for her late husband and the community.
"The people they're used to it and then they started asking when are we having it and everyone has been helpful and kind," Alice said.
Jonathan McGuire is one of those people who helps out on the farm. He started working for J.D. as a teenager and looks forward to the festival each year.
"We come over here and get everything ready for everybody and then come and clean the whole place up," said McGuire. "It meant so much to him is why I came over to do it."
Several people are helping to get the farm ready for the strawberry festival next month. It will be held May 20, 21, and 22.
