NELSON COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Friends of Nelson release a new study highlighting the risks the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline poses to taxpayers.

According to a news release, the report, conducted by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, found building too many, unnecessary pipelines will cripple consumers' access to non-carbon energy sources in future decades.

The study recommends applications for both the Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley Pipelines be suspended until a regional planning process can be established for pipeline infrastructure and an investigation into the failure rate of new pipelines be conducted.

In addition, the report suggests FERC lower the returns on equity granted to pipeline developers.
