CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) -  Montgomery County is seeing a boost in tourism revenues, according to the latest numbers.

The most recent state report showed Montgomery County tourism brought in $136 million in 2014. That is almost $4 million more than 2013, and $7 million more than 2012.

County leaders said one reason for the change is a new push for collaboration throughout the region.

"I think being a regional office where we represent both the towns and the county, having that collaboration is completely necessary to make our program function correctly," said regional tourism representative Irene Kilmer.

Leaders from across the area visited around 15 attractions as part of a Familiarization Tour Monday. The goal was to showcase what the area has to offer, so that information can be passed on to visitors.
