Pittsylvania Co. house fire may have been intentional
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS10) - The Pittsylvania County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating whether a house fire during the weekend was intentionally set.
According to Brosville Fire Chief Kevin Sarris, firefighters were called to a home in the 12000 block of Martinsville Highway at about 4:20 p.m. on Saturday
The home had already sustained heavy damage from an accidental electrical fire on March 19.
Sarris said based on comments from people at the scene on Saturday, he believes the homeowner was trying to burn down what was left of the home so that something else could be built there.
So far, no official charges have been filed.
Sarris said it's illegal to burn a standing structure. If you want to burn a structure, you have to knock it down into a pile and then burn the pile.
