ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A total of 15 dogs and cats are up for adoption and looking for a forever home at the Roanoke Valley SPCA.

Last week, the group assisted in a large rescue. About 700 cats and dogs were found neglected at an unlicensed shelter in North Carolina.

Friday, our local SPCA took in 11 dogs and four cats from the rescue. Many animals needed health and orthopedic care.

The SPCA told us now, it's about finding the right home for these animals that need a lot of love.

"We've done our own behavioral and medical assessment," commented Sylvie Peterson, the director of community engagement at the Roanoke Valley SPCA. "For some dogs and cats it's a matter of saying you can't have other dogs in the home because the dogs may be fear aggressive."

Most of the animals rescued are ready for adoption.
