Pittsylvania Co. honors fallen law enforcement officers
CHATHAM (WSLS 10) - Law enforcement officers in Danville and Pittsylvania County are remembering fellow officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office held it's annual memorial ceremony this evening.
A short prayer service was held at Chatham Baptist Church and the names of the fallen officers were read aloud.
Afterwards, a candlelight vigil was held at the fallen officers' memorial outside the sheriff's office.
"It's humbling to me and I'm truly grateful for the people that recognize the importance," said Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor. "It's just a moment we can stop and pause and take a breath."
This was the 25th year for the ceremony.
