Virginia State Police call the 'Drive to Save Lives' campaign a success

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police say a recent safety initiative was a great success.

The 'Drive to Save Lives' campaign was conducted on Interstate 81 in Wytheville over three days.

During that time, troopers issued 167 summons and speeding citations.

Virginia State Police says the operation was a success, because while troopers were monitoring the heavily-traveled area, traffic speeds significantly slowed - resulting in zero deaths and no serious accidents.
