HALIFAX COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Students and teachers at a Halifax County elementary school are showing their support for two teachers battling cancer.

Friday, everyone at Clay's Mill Elementary School wore pink shirts and hats for pre-k teacher Cheryl Kashmer.

The students also made and signed a banner for her.

Kashmer had her latest chemo treatments Wednesday and Thursday with about a year of treatments remaining.

She says battling cancer and teaching full time is tough, but everyone at the school makes it easier.

"It's like a family. The school's been very supportive," Kashmer said as her fellow teachers stood behind her in support. "They surprised me a couple of days ago with the shirts and we planned for everyone to wear them on Friday. The school's been really supportive, which has helped."

On Monday, students and teachers will all wear grey in honor of Kim Albert, who is also battling cancer.
