RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles says a computer outage that forced the agency to close its customer service centers has been repaired.

Spokeswoman Brandy Brubaker said in a statement Saturday that the offices will reopen Monday but customers can conduct transactions, including driver's license renewals, online.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the outage Saturday morning caused some challenges for police agencies.

State police Sgt. Stephan Vick says it prevented state and local police from checking certain drivers' records, such as whether a driver had a suspended license.

The newspaper reports that the DMV had a similar outage last year.
