ROANOKE (WSLS10) - Members in one church in the Star City celebrated having an additional building as part of their worship. The pastor at First Baptist Church in Downtown Roanoke said they held a building dedication ceremony for The Crossing.

The Crossing is a new $7,000,000 facility connecting three different generations of buildings, the Historic Sanctuary built in 1929, the Family Center (1979) and the Worship Center which opened in 1992.

The latest building has 20ft ceilings, a café area plus a small playground for children.

"To expand the campus to give the Roanoke city and valley a new tool for people to connect with to support the ministries and mission work of the church all ultimately to glory of the lord Jesus Christ," Bryan Smith the pastor of First Baptist Church said.

Congressman Bob Goodlatte, Roanoke Mayor David Bowers and Mayor elect Sherman Lea attended today's dedication ceremony.
