Work for massive three-day yard sale underway in Botetourt County
BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Work is underway for the annual "Proceeds for Poverty" massive three-day sale.
Volunteers are putting in lots of hours pricing donated items.
The money raised in the 5th annual event goes to build water wells, care for orphans, children and refugees around the world.
However, a portion will also help pay for trafficking victims right here in our community.
Last year's sale raised $45,000.
"About all the money that we get from the sale of things goes to help the needy. We don't pay big salaries, we don't have anything like that, expenses that come out of it, it all goes to help the needy around the world," explained Roy Carter, director of Proceeds for Poverty.
If you're interested in shopping for a cause Proceeds for Poverty takes place at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church off of Route 460 in Botetourt County, June 9-11.
