ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – The rainy weather didn't stop crowds from celebrating 100-years of America's national parks with a hike around the Roanoke Mountain campground.

The hike is one of 100 hikes being planned to mark the milestone.

It ended with this years' kick-off to the first mountain music series, with songs from the Roanoke Valley Ramblers.

Mayor David Bowers hosted the event and ribbon cutting for the new stage.

"You can get in a little hike on a Sunday afternoon, enjoy some Virginia old-fashioned music, and have a great time, which is what living in Roanoke is all about," Bowers said.

If you missed the event Sunday night, don't worry because the music will be coming to the Roanoke Mountain campground every Sunday at 7 o'clock throughout the summer.
