Increased efforts to get more Virginia voters to the polls this election year

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  Delegate Sam Rasoul is among those raising awareness and encouraging ex-felons and others to get registered to vote.

In fact, according to the Roanoke City Registrar's Office, nearly 100 people have signed up in-person to get their voting rights restored.

Officials say more local organizations have signed up to be certified to hold registration rallies and other events because this is a presidential election year.

Registrar's office staff members say they are also teaming up with retirement and healthcare facilities to make sure voters have photo IDs.
