The Crooked Road's second annual Mountains of Music Homecoming starts Friday.  This 9-day region-wide celebration allows communities to showcase and celebrate those community assets they are most proud of and want to share with visitors, such as traditional music, crafts, history, and outdoor recreation offerings.

You can see Crooked Road concerts celebrating old time, bluegrass, gospel, traditional ballad singing, and many other styles will be presented in over 20 different communities where this musical heritage lives and breathes.

Come to Market Square in downtown Roanoke Friday and enjoy the Movie The Goonies. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and some snacks or stop by a Downtown restaurant for something to eat!  The movie begins at around sunset-when the sun has gone down enough to see the screen, with kids activities beginning around 6 pm.

Flat Pickin' Fridays starts at 5 p.m. Friday at the Daleville Town Center. Join the Council of Community Services and Big Lick Entertainment for "Country Sing along Night". It's $5 dollars and kids 12 and under are free. 100% of ticket proceeds benefit the Council of Community Services!

The Virginia Cheese Festival is Saturday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Blacksburg. Get ready for cheese tasting, toe-tapping music and old-time dancing from 11am-4pm  Tickets can be purchased at both Blacksburg Kroger locations. Advance purchases are recommended as day of event tickets will sell out quickly.

The Pulaski County Humane Society's Barks n Bubbles Dog and Car Wash made such a big splash last year they are doing it again. Bring your car and your dogs out to Advance Auto in Pulaski on Saturday between 9 and 3. Donations benefit the homeless pets in the animal shelter.

Saturday is National Get Outdoors Day, also known as GO Day. Virginia State Park are having Special GO Day programs to help families enjoy hiking, archery, fishing, paddling, geocaching, biking, tubing, swimming, campfire cooking and much more.
