Unique classroom officially opens in Floyd

COPPER HILL (WSLS 10) - On Friday, students learned about the environment in one of the most unique classrooms in the world.

Earlier this week, we told you about the new EBase classroom in Floyd County. It's a solar and wind powered classroom and is the only one of its kind in the United States.

The classroom opened on Friday, teaching students about renewable energy, sustainability and climate change.

"This morning was essentially giving the kids a gift," said James Bray, the GM of AkzoNobel, "They're going to understand that it's only a good thing to use sustainable products and renewable energy, but it also saves you money."

There are only three other classrooms like it in the world. Two in India and one in Antarctica.
