No injuries in Smith Mountain Lake boating accident

SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE (WSLS 10) - Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire Rescue responded to a boat crash Friday night.

According to Tom Lovegrove, President of SML Volunteer Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched to navigation marker R87 around 11:20 p.m.

Lovegrove said the boat operator ran up on the rocks just south of Bay Roc marina; no one was hurt.

He said the people on the boat were transported to the marina, where they were examined by EMS.

The boat sustained significant damage and will be removed by commercial salvage.
