Charges certified against man accused of shooting a Pittsylvania Co. deputy

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Charges are certified to a grand jury for the man accused of trying to kill a Pittsylvania County Sheriff's deputy then barricading himself inside a home.

Brian Cundiff had a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. He's charged with attempted capital murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and malicious wounding.

Court documents show deputies responded to Cundiff's father's home in Keeling in April after Cundiff got into an argument with his father.

Cundiff is accused of shooting at the deputies, grazing one of them in the head.

A grand jury will hear the case August 15.
